
On Sept. 9, Lt. Gov. Tim Murray, U.S. Sen. John Kerry and members of the public testified in support of the bill to appoint an interim U.S. Senator to temporarily fill the seat left by the passing of U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy.
During his testimony, Lt. Gov. Murray asked the Joint Committee on Election Laws to pass legislation that would allow the Governor to appoint an interim Senator, who would serve only until the January special election, to ensure we have two people fighting for Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate.
