Lt. Gov. Murray today announced a historic, multi-year rail agreement has been finalized with CSX, paving the way for a historic expansion that will re-define our passenger and freight rail system.
The announcement was made during Lt. Gov. Murray's keynote address before a crowd of approximately 300 business leaders at the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs breakfast.
This expansion will result in additional service on the Worcester line, and is another meaningful step forward in our quest to get commuter rail to the New Bedford and Fall River areas. Under the new agreement, CSX will help pay for liability insurance and a deductible of up to $7.5 million per accident if it is at fault.
