Tim Murray Lieutenant Governor

A Message to Supporters

In the past few days I have received words of encouragement from many supporters suggesting that I consider running for the United States Senate seat vacated by the unfortunate passing of Senator Edward Kennedy.

While I am extremely grateful for the support, I want you to know that I remain focused on continuing my work as Lieutenant Governor, working with Governor Patrick to help Massachusetts recover from the unprecedented economic challenges we face.

Furthermore, with my oldest daughter starting her first day of school tomorrow, my wife and I have agreed that our focus needs to remain on our family and helping our daughters succeed.

That said, I look forward to running and winning re-election with Governor Patrick in 2010.

Sincerely,

Timothy P. Murray
Lieutenant Governor

Thanks, Tim, for the update and for your commitment to working here in Massachusetts. In due time I would love to see you with another state wide office, but now is not the time.

I moved to Los Angeles 6 and a half years ago, looking to work in film and tv production as a location scout. One of the first meetings that I had was with a young woman named Alex who was a student at the American Film Institute, and she was working on her thesis film, and she was looking for a unique location. When we got to talking, she mentioned that she was from Boston. Well, anybody that I meet here in Cali that happens to be from the Bay State, I say to them, keep an eye on Tim Murray, a good friend of mine, we went to college together, he's going to be Governor or Senator someday. That's exactly what I said to Alex, back in April of 2003.
Her reply: "That's interesting....my dad is Senator."
Ha!!! Of course, Alex was Alexandra Kerry.
I do hope that Tim achieves one of those seats someday, but if now's not the right time to pursue one, so be it.

Fine work Tim - though I'd endorse you whole-heartedly! Jan
