This year, Massachusetts was awarded $185 million in federal Recovery Act funds for water infrastructure improvements. The Patrick-Murray Administration is leveraging those funds to spark nearly $800 million in private and municipal construction projects, resulting in 4,000 construction jobs for the state.

In March, Lt. Gov. Murray toured the Lakeville Water Treatment Plant, which is just one of the many facilities benefiting from these funds. Alicia Fortin of "Bridgewater This Week" reports:

Saving veterans' lives. That's the mission of the SAVE Team in Massachusetts. SAVE, or Statewide Advocacy for Veterans' Empowerment, works as a liaison to connect veterans and their families in Massachusetts to services they need.

The Deval Patrick committee today released its first ad on boston.com. The ad focuses on small businesses and the Governor's plan to help them create jobs by limiting skyrocketing health insurance rate increases.

Since 1999, premiums have gone up a total of 131 percent -- far more rapidly than workers' wages. The Governor's plan will provide emergency relief so that small businesses - which make up 85% of the state's economy - can start hiring.

The Commonwealth's AA bond rating has again been affirmed by the three major rating agencies: Fitch Ratings, Moody's Investor Services and Standard & Poor's.

All of the agencies cited the Patrick Murray Administration's responsible and proactive stewardship of the Commonwealth's finances during the current economic downturn.

"Maintaining this rating allows us to make critical investments in our schools, roads and bridges, and housing while saving taxpayers money," said Governor Patrick.
