announced that the 2010 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention will
be held in Worcester. The event will serve as a nominating convention
to endorse a slate of candidates for the 2010 state election.

THE NUMBER of homeless families housed in motels across Massachusetts is at a peak. ... Homelessness is a complex and heart-wrenching issue, but we must do our best to address it.
Early in our administration, Governor Patrick asked me to lead the Interagency Council on Housing and Homelessness, with a mission of breaking down bureaucratic barriers and finding better ways to deal with the issue so that we can end homelessness in Massachusetts.

The Patrick-Murray Administration today allocated more than
$12 million through the 'Communities Count' initiative to the City of
Worcester to help create jobs and stabilize neighborhoods.
"Through this initiative, we can offer relief to hard working families and support the city's efforts to promote economic growth and development," said Lt. Gov. Tim Murray.

Lt. Gov. Tim Murray today announced and unveiled plans for the
Commonwealth's official memorial honoring service members who lost
their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom
(OIF/OEF). This will be the first memorial in Massachusetts dedicated
to the men and women who lost their lives in the post 9/11 conflicts.

As part of the Massachusetts Recovery Plan, the Patrick-Murray administration today announced a program that will allow first-time homebuyers to borrow up to $8,000 from MassHousing in advance of their federal tax credit.
"(This) will be a great help and further incentive, for Massachusetts residents who are considering buying their first home," said Lt. Gov. Tim Murray, Chair of the Interagency Council on Housing and Homelessness.

Tim delivered testimony before the Joint Committee on the Judiciary July 14 in support of H.1137, an Act to protect and enhance the rights of child and adult victims and witnesses of crime.
Tim continues to lead the administration's efforts to help cities and towns. On July 9, Tim kicked off the Municipal Affairs Coordinating Cabinet's third listening tour with a meeting in Harwich.
Tim chairs the Municipal Cabinet, which travels throughout the Commonwealth to hear from municipal officials, legislators and the public to help the state improve partnerships and provide additional services and assistance to cities and towns.
